Scope of this policy
This policy covers North Grand Royale, run by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) of 74 West Seymour Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 1E2, Canada. Other websites linked from here set their own cookies under their own policies, which are not covered.
"Cookies" is used loosely for anything that stores or reads data on your device: HTTP cookies, local and session storage, tracking pixels and device identifiers. Everything the site uses is listed in the register below, whatever its technical type.
Categories
There are three categories. Essential storage keeps the site working and is always on. Analytics and Advertising are optional, off by default and only used if you switch them on.
Nothing optional is loaded before you have made a choice.
The register
Each category below lists the kinds of entries it covers. Entries for optional categories are shown in advance so the consent banner describes what would really happen.
Essential (always on)
- Session cookie: keeps a signed-in session alive and protects forms against forgery; it ends when you log out, close the browser or stay idle for a while.
- Age notice record: remembers that you acknowledged the 19+ notice so it is not shown on every page. Age itself is checked at registration.
- Consent record: stores your choice for each category, when you made it and where it came from. This is the proof of your consent.
Analytics (optional)
- Visitor identifier: a pseudonymous ID that tells one browser from another so that visits can be counted.
- Session state: keeps related page views together so aggregate usage can be reported.
Advertising (optional)
- Conversion linker: connects a sign-up or click with the advert that led to it.
- Ad measurement identifier: used to measure how adverts perform; remarketing stays off unless it is separately approved and listed here.
- Browser check: tests whether your browser accepts cookies at all.
- Conversion de-duplication record: remembers which confirmed conversions were already reported so none is counted twice. It holds no personal data.
First party and third party
A first-party entry is set by this site and can only be read by it. A third-party entry is set by another company's code on the page, and that company may recognise your browser on other sites where its code runs. Essential entries are first party; analytics and advertising entries are third party.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. If a provider is added or removed, this page is updated before the change goes live and you are asked again.
Data sent outside British Columbia
If you accept analytics or advertising, the data those tags collect may be processed in other countries, where local laws can allow authorities to demand access to it. Declining both categories avoids this and the site works the same either way.
Consent signals
Where third-party tags are deployed, they start with every consent signal set to denied, and no tag file is requested until you opt in.
- Accepting Analytics grants the analytics signal; accepting Advertising grants the advertising signals.
- Personalised advertising stays denied unless it is separately approved and listed on this page.
- While a signal is denied, the related tag sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device.
- Changing your choice takes effect straight away, without reloading the page.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as an express opt-out: optional categories are recorded as declined, nothing optional loads, and the banner is not shown. We handle the older Do Not Track header the same way.
You can still opt in deliberately from the cookie settings link in the footer; that explicit choice overrides the browser signal.
Changing or withdrawing consent
Open "Cookie settings" in the footer at any time to reopen the banner with your current choice pre-filled. Withdrawal applies to future processing straight away.
Your consent record lasts 12 months, after which you are asked again. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which removes your saved choice.
What happens if you refuse
- Declining analytics and advertising costs you nothing: every page and link works exactly the same.
- Blocking essential storage does cause problems: the age notice and cookie banner will reappear on every page load and no consent can be recorded.
- Private browsing clears storage when the window closes, so the notices return next session. That is normal browser behaviour.
